The ability of the Red Ruby Devon to convert grass to high premium beef, together with its docile temperament, has meant the breed is increasingly first choice for beef farmers looking for a low input, high output formula for beef production. Derek Biss of Greenslade Taylor Hunt, who sponsored all the championship prizes, remarked “This first National Show is another step forward for the breed and shows just how serious Red Ruby Devons should be taken by the beef industry in general. This is an iconic South West success story that will continue to be exported further afield.” The success story of the day however was that of Julie and Tony Benneworth’s Yeomadon Herd, with Yeomadon Ferdinand taking Breed Championship, and his yearling daughter, Yeomadon Sally crowned Junior Champion
